Olympiacos - Paris Saint-Germain 1-4
Olympiacos made a good match against PSG and it was due to momentarily idleness that our side’s Champions League opening match ended in a 1-4 loss.
Roberto was the goalkeeper, with Bong, Maniatis, Medjani and Siovas in defense. Midfield-wise, Machado was fielded with Samaris and Dominguez, whereas Weiss, Fuster and Mitroglou took on the offense.
Since the first minute, our side managed to take hold of the match, boosted also by our crowd’s relentless cheers! Until 15’, our side has hit the woodwork twice taking thus PSG’s players aback!
Olympiacos kept the pressure on, but, against the run of play, PSG scored first courtesy of Kavani.
However, Olympiacos’ reaction was swiftly leveling the match with Weiss. The Slovak charged in the box, dodged Maxwell and nut-megged Marquinhos, then dribbled past Tiago Silva and slotted the ball nicely. This is how a beautiful effort should end: by scoring!
Until the end of the first half, Olympiacos has also had a couple of chance.
After the break, the Frenchmen improved their performance and managed to score in 68’ with Motta heading home. It was also Motta who delivered 1-3, once again with a header, in 73'. The final 1-4 was registered by Marquinhos; minutes earlier, Ibrahimovic penalty shot had been saved by Roberto.
