Players’ quotes

Read below quotes of our players following the match against Bayern Munchen.

Dimitris Siovas

How does it feel playing against such players like Lewandowksi or Muller?

“All players are the same. We showed we could handle a tough match. Unfortunately, we were unlucky as the match developed. We could have earned a draw or have it at least 0-0 or 1-1. I believe that all conceded were a product of luck. This is football. We move on”.

Do you think that it is Bayern’s quality that may turn a single chance to a goal?

“Firstly, it was all about that first goal. This was the crucial point when we lost heart. I don’t think they had any true goal-scoring opportunity. So, we move on. I believe we will struggle with Arsenal for second place, which is also our goal”.

Do you believe that Olympiacos’ display in the first 70 minutes may change the atmosphere ahead of the coming fixtures?

“Of course. We saw that, using this style of play as -I think- the case will be in the remaining matches, we will be able to do something good against Arsenal and Bayern. I believe that our chance with Brown could have changed the whole course of the match. Then, Lewandowski produced a chance. That was it all. I think we responded well. It was bitter at the end, it reminded me of the match against Paris Saint Germain with those last-gasp goals. However, we shall continue. Luck was with Bayern; I think the most result would have been a draw”.

Salino

“The performance of the entire squad, not just mine, was very good. If one is to play against Bayern, then one must fight hard, outrun them and this what all players did. I am very satisfied with our performance in the first half; but I am very disappointed because we had many chanced also in the first half to hurt… Bayern. After the goal we conceded, I lost the chance to change the course of the match. However, nothing is over. What is done, is done. We have many fixtures ahead to focus on and see how to proceed”.

On the chance he lost:

“These things do happen. It wasn’t about Neuer. We did a fine work at midfield, defense didn’t have to work hard. We had many chances, which could have changed things earlier on. These things happen in football. This is what football is like and we have to move on”.

Da Costa

On the match against Bayern:

“Indeed, we were better in the first half compared to the second. I think we were able to control the pace and produced some counter-attacks. I think the match changed completely when Muller scored that goal and in the way he did it. We would rather have luck on our side. I think that then the match became tougher for us and we tried to come forward. I don’t think that those 3 concede goals represent our side’s performance and what we produced on the pitch and all the things we tried in the first half. I believe that the opener played an important role”.

On Bayern’s first goal and the way it was scored:

“As I said before, it was the goal that changed the course of the match and I wish that luck had been on our side; however, it wasn’t. Bayern is a great side that, when taking the lead, knows what to do to increase it. I believe that if we had been able to keep that 0-0 a bit more, the match would have taken a different route. But we also are a great team, we cannot just quit no matter what the result tonight was. I don’t think that the final score reflects reality. Now, we should go for the win in all next matches, thus claiming our changes and this is what we will do”.
