Era Oscar Garcia in Olympiacos’ bench! Our team presented its new manager on Monday to the representatives of the media, who were present at the offices of Olympiacos FC, in Alexandras Square, but also to the fans, who watched live the presentation in Olympiacos TV!
In the presence of the Legend’s leader, Mr. Evangelos Marinakis, Vice-Presidents (Mr. Kountouris, Mr. Agrafiotis, Mr. Batagiannis), the Managing Director, Mr. George Pavlos, François Modesto, Directors of the Club and members of the Board as a whole, the Spanish head coach was presented to the “red-and-whites” through the cameras that recorded the event. Mr. Garcia sat at the panel, along with Christian Karembeu and Darko Kovacevic, with the interpretation being held, as always, by Ms. Marina Tsali.
After a brief greeting, addressed by Olympiacos’ Communications Director, Mr. Kostas Karapapas, Christian Karembeu took the floor. A man of football with close ties to Spain, the Strategic Advisor to the Administration made a brief reference to Mr. Garcia’s career and concluded, “We welcome him to Olympiacos. We are happy that today we have him with us and present him. We wish him good luck and all the best in the effort he will make as coach of Olympiacos “!
In a brief statement, which followed the presentation by Mr. Christian Karembeu, Mr. Oscar Garcia focused on the knowledge he has of our team, the Academy, the people who work every day for the good of the Club and added: “I’m very happy and delighted that the fortune brought me here, to, in my opinion, but also for those who have talked to me about Olympiacos, the largest Club in Greece. I had conversations with all the coaches who have passed by the team, and they said the best words, which makes me happy to be here”.
Continuing, he talked about his contact with the Barcelona’s coach, saying “yes, during the week I had a conversation with Ernesto Valverde.”
Afterwards, answering the questions of the media representatives, Mr. Garcia pointed out, among other things: “My mentality and philosophy match those of Olympiacos, as I like working with young players. I have been in the Academy of Barcelona, one of the best in the world, and I’m eager to meet new kids and get players from there. It’s something I’ve done in the past. I know that, when these players have the opportunities, they can meet the expectations and also take part in their countries’ national teams.”
In a short analysis for style of play he has on his mind for Olympiacos, he stressed that “I like the offensive football, to have ball possession, to play high and leave our opponent away from our area”, while, returning to the subject of the conversations he had before deciding to sit on our team’s bench, he added that “I have been told the best words about the team, the President, the Administration, the people who work in it and the city of Piraeus”.
The presentation of the new coach of Olympiacos was completed with the traditional photos, the handshake with Mr. Marinakis, and a group picture, with Mr. García, his assistants, Mr. Ruben Martinez Caballero, Antonio Puche Vicente, Enrique Sanz Ramirez, Christian Karembeu, Darko Kovacevic and François Modesto!
Olympiacos’ new coach is starting his work immediately: after the end of his presentation, he went directly to Renti, to settle procedural issues, as well as to prepare the afternoon training.
