Olympiacos FC announces signing of goalkeeper Silvio Proto.
In his first interview as a Legend’s player, the experienced goalie stressed the following:
Welcome to the Olympiacos family! What is the message you would like to share with our club’s fans?
It is an honor for me to be a member of this prestigious Greek club, the greatest in the country! I have played in the past against the club during my term in Anderlecht. The arena is amazing! The fans are truly passionate stand always by the team! A major team like Olympiacos needs great fans like they are! It is a family indeed and I am really happy! I am also here to also help –by means of my experience- Stefanos Kapino. I am 34 years old and he is a great talent in Greece, I have already watched many of his matches and he is a very good goalkeeper. I will do anything so as to help him also become better.
Does playing in the UEFA Champions League represent an important factor for a player to decide and join a specific club?
Of course! Our group features Juventus, the club which has Gigi Buffon, my personal idol whose performances I have been watching since I was a child, or Barcelona, a side that includes some of the world’s top players, or Sporting Lisbon; This makes it easy to understand how difficult a group this is. Olympiacos may accomplish something great in this group; even though the favorites do exist, the outcome of a football match is decided on the pitch. We, the players, will have to give all we got on the pitch to perform well!
