For one more year, following an initiative by the President of Olympiacos FC Mr. Evangelos Marinakis, the club offered financial aid to the Holy Metropolitan Church of Piraeus; a tangible way to underpin their work and contribution to society. As it is customary every year, His Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim was presented with money cheques by Mr. Vassilis Vassiliadis on behalf of the President of the “red-and-white” club, Mr. Evangelos Marinakis.
In particular, the President and CEO of the G Karaiskakis Stadium, Mr. Vassilis Vassiliadis, attended the concert against poverty organized by the Piraeus Metropolitan Church and delivered said money cheques, an offer by Olympiacos FC and Club President Evangelos Marinakis ahead of the Christmas period.
In detail, a cheque was given to cover for soup kitchens, along with 4 cheques to cover for the December wages of a same number of deacons; the tally of Mr. Evangelos Marinakis’ donations in the past years exceeds EUR 300,000.
Also, Mr. Vassilis Vassiliadis let his Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim know that the President of Olympiacos FC Evangelos Marinakis, with a view to support our impoverished fellow townsmen, has been offering cartons filled with foodstuff to the Municipality of Piraeus, of a total worth of more than EUR 500,000.
In a statement Metropolitan Seraphim said: “I would like to thank Olympiacos FC from the bottom of my heart and they truly set an example for everyone”.
For his part, the President and CEO of the G Karaiskakis Stadium, Mr. Vassilis Vassiliadis, pointed out with regard to this new, significant “red-and-white” contribution and offer to our society: “Allow me to inform you that Mr. Evangelos Marinakis, with a view to support our impoverished fellow townsmen, has been offering cartons filled with foodstuff to the Municipality of Piraeus, of a total worth of more than EUR 500,000, as Olympiacos FC Vice President and Mayor of Piraeus knows. It must be pointed out that Metropolitan Seraphim delivered to Mr. Vassilis Vassiliadis a silver platter for Olympiacos Fc and Mr. Evangelos Marinakis, as a sign of respect and recognition for his new financial aid.
