Mr Giannis Moralis made the opening remarks and said: “We thank you all for coming to Olympiacos’s final player presentation for this year. We believe the team’s roster is successfully enriched and that the club is ready to achieve its goals, which are none other than winning the Championship and the Cup, as well as a performing well in Europe.” And he continued: “It is important to ensure a smooth championship season, because it is unfamiliar for a team’s first official match to be a Champions League Game”. Managing Director of Olympiacos, Mr Ioannis Vrentzos stated: “We are happy with what we have accomplished so far, taking under consideration the difficult days our county is going through and the climate of uncertainty that prevails in Greek football. I believe that the President of Olympiacos, Mr Vaggelis Marinakis has kept all his promises. This year we took on board young promising players, in order to set the grounds for Olympiacos to sustain its dominance. We would like to thank the fans of Olympiacos for their support, and we hope that they will all come to the “G. Karaiskakis stadium” to watch their beloved team play”.
The new-comer player, Djamel Abdoun stated: “I’m proud to have joined Olympiacos, which is one of the greatest clubs in Europe, and I will work hard to return their confidence in me. I hope to have a good season with the team and to help the club to achieve its goals. I’m not 100% ready, but I work hard in the trainings and I will be ready to step onto the pitch very soon. The important thing is for the team to win and to do my best”. To the question in which position he prefers to play, and about Kevin Miralas, the player commented: “I can play just well on both sides, right or left. I have no preferences. As far as Miralas is concerned, I know him for years; we were opponents in the French League; it is easier to adjust when you have friends. At this moment, we are all teammates”.
On the other hand, Pablo Orbaiz said: “I’m very happy to be here and I’m honored to have joined the best club in Greece. It is challenge for me leaving a club that I have played for more than 12 years; it is also a great motive to help Olympiacos to achieve its goals”. When asked about the fact that many players, currently on the squad, are playing in the same position, he stated: “it can only be a good thing, which it will also benefit the team. Opportunities will arise for all of us. I wish to have the chance to assist the team”. To the question, whether he is thinking to return to Athletic Bilbao, after the end of the loan period, the player commented: “I came here to work hard. I want to prove to the President of Olympiacos, as well as to the fans that I’m a player that they can count on. Time will tell where it will bring me”.
