Occasioned by his presence at the club’s training ground at Rentis for the ‘holy water’ rite, Olympiacos President, Mr. Vaggelis Marinakis gave a speech to the players in view of the opening of the team’s official fixtures.

“The championship starts on Sunday and you must all understand that we have to battle for reaching where we aspire to, that is the 4th star on the jersey and the 40th championship title. You will all write history since this will an unbelievable achievement for a European club.
What I want from you is to be united like a family. This is what characterizes our OLYMPIACOS! The strength generated by this unity is immense.
Your coach is a young person, we are all very satisfied of him and I want you to know that he enjoys my support. Do know that I am a man who supports his choices and I always demand discipline. Do know that it means nothing if one is the highest paid player or the youngest one. For me, you are all equal and I demand hard work and discipline. And from your side, you are aware that you joined not just the greatest Greek club, but a huge organization that offers you everything. I am saying that mainly for the newcomers in the team!
Against Napoli, we performed poorly. I don’t like Olympiacos suffering defeats even in friendly matches; and by anyone. When OLYMPIACOS sets foot on the pitch, one must play only to win and bleed in order to conquer the victory. That’s how this club’s glorious history has been written; by fight and dignity. And this is how we shall continue”.
