“Tomorrow’s is an encounter of crucial importance, in the sense that in case we win, we will have almost succeeded in our secondary objective, i.e. to qualify to Europa League, and it will give us many hopes to keep trying for our main objective, that is to move on in Champions League. It will be a very difficult match. Montpellier is a hard-to-beat opponent, as we also saw in France. But, as we play at home and before our fans, we will try to give our 100%. We have some problems, it is true that not all players are 100% fit; and not all our players will be available. However, we are going to try and playing in front of our massively supporting fans, we have a weapon, in order to collect the 3 points and continue our journey in the tournament as best as we can.
Montpellier is the French league title-holder, which means that it is a very strong opponent. They have great players, very fit and dangerous, particularly at the beginning of the match. Having said that, we are the team of Olympiacos and we have own our strengths. We got good players and a very strong side and, by playing at home, we have an additional weapon in order to claim the victory and its 3 points”.
Do you believe that Olympiacos, given its current roster, may proceed further than last season?
“Initially, our mind is set on tomorrow’s match. We must not be concerned with higher goals since we haven’t yet achieved our first one, i.e. to qualify to the next round. So, we must take one match at the time; let’s win tomorrow and then see how many points challenged we will collect, so that we set our next objectives”.
In details, Olympiacos player Francois Modesto said the following:
“This is a massive challenge for us. Getting the win will mean that we have nearly qualified to Europa League and it will also bring us close to claiming the 2nd position in the table. It is a very difficult match because French sides are extremely dangerous when playing away from home”.
