I leave Rentis for the last time, after saying goodbye to my players and the club’s employees, who for the past 2 years have made me feel at home; I couldn’t help crying. i will miss you.
Football never provides for an early notice on when to join and to leave a club. I am returning back home, but a part of me will stay here. This is absolutely reasonable; I was happy here and I am taking some great memories with me. The first one goes to Darko Kovačević who entrusted me to take on Olympiacos as its head coach. I will never forget him.
I leave the CLUB fascinated by its size, by this wonderful CITY and this magnificent COUNTRY that hold me tight and made me feel a part of it. I owe the deepest gratitude to the people who showed their support to me and made my life in Piraeus easier and more comfortable. I am also touched by the memories of match days and nights in Karaiskaki and the fans singing their hearts out and driving our players to victory. My legs still shake when I recall their non-stop chants, ever growing in intensity.
These are the very ones who stood on their feet and applauded me, while having coffee with my wife close to my home. I will never forget you either. I will also never forget those who worked with me, struggled with me and made every effort, so that both I and my family have everything at our disposal. You will always have a place in my heart.
The list would go on and on, and never ends… Stella, Roberto, Marina, the Club’s employees and coaching staff, Administration and Rentis staff: I am indebted to you. Last but not least, the eternal Koulis Dourekas whose spirit and drive scored equally important goals for the squad. All these people taught me how to love a Club. This adventure may be over but I will not forget it.
Go on, Legend! For ever!
