This is a year of records for Olympiacos and, at the same time, a year of awards. Yet another award was added last night to the long list of personal distinctions for the members of our football family. And this was a special award since it comes from abroad. Our coach, Marco Silva, was voted by the Portuguese Association of Sports Journalists (CNID) as the 2016 Best Portuguese Coach working abroad.
This distinction is even more important when considering that this award was last year handed out to Jose Mourinho, then coach of Chelsea, whereas the absolute winner (note: he wins the award every year) among Portuguese footballers playing abroad is Cristiano Ronaldo.
Our coach, Marco Silva said about this honourary distinction: “It is a great honour and pride for me to be given this award in my first spell as a coach working abroad. I hope more similar successes will follow and I of course wish to share this award with the other members of the technical team and with my players“.
