Olympiacos FC and its President, Evangelos Marinakis, are always by the side of the Holy Metropolis of Piraeus, tangibly supporting its multifaceted social mission. On the evening of Tuesday (17/12), a large philanthropic Christmas concert was held at the emblematic and historic Municipal Theatre of Piraeus, organized by the Holy Metropolis of Piraeus, with Olympiacos FC as the main sponsor.
Present at the concert for the fight against poverty was Mr. Marinakis’ wife, Mrs. Athanasia Marinaki, who handed a check to His Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus to support the Metropolis’ Christmas relief efforts for families in need in the city. Also in attendance were Mr. Vasilis Vassiliadis, President and CEO of “G. Karaiskakis,” Mrs. Evi Koutsavtaki, CEO of Olympiacos FC, Mr. Giannis Moralis, Vice President of Olympiacos FC and Mayor of Piraeus, and Mr. Giannis Vrentzos, CEO of Alter Ego Media.
His Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim presented Mrs. Marinaki with an icon of the Virgin Mary, describing her as a model mother and wife, and wished that God would always be by her side.
Mrs. Marinaki said:
“Your Eminence, Reverend Fathers, Mr. Mayor, esteemed ladies and gentlemen here today:
First of all, I always admire your wonderful words. It is a great joy and honor for me to be here. The grand Christmas concert organized by the Holy Metropolis of Piraeus and yourself is exceptional. The children of your school’s choir are amazing. I also thank the artists who made this wonderful evening so special. Everything is beautiful—so is the choir of your clergy. I wish you all a Merry Christmas, happy holidays, health, unity, and greater sensitivity toward others. Let’s help our fellow human beings however we can. Let’s give love. Love costs nothing, yet it beautifies the world. Everyone can make a difference in their own way. Best of luck with Thursday’s radiothon. I sincerely hope people are moved to act. Merry Christmas, with health to all”.
