Olympiacos fought until the very end to take a result from the match against Real Madrid at the “G. Karaiskakis” on Matchday 5 of the League Phase of the Champions League, but ultimately fell 3–4.
The “red-and-whites” started the match very well and even opened the scoring, but the Spaniards managed to overturn the deficit within a few minutes. Despite the Greek double winners pulling one back, the match eventually ended 3–4.
Olympiacos took the lead through Chiquinho in the 8th minute, before Real Madrid equalised 1–1 with Mbappé in the 22nd minute. The same player made it 1–2 in the 24th and 1–3 in the 29th minute. Olympiacos reduced the deficit to 2–3 in the 52nd minute through Taremi, while Mbappé again scored in the 60th minute for 2–4. El Kaabi then made it 3–4 in the 81st minute, which proved to be the final score.
