Olympiacos head coach José Luis Mendilibar expressed his satisfaction with both the performance and the result after his team’s 2–0 victory over Atromitos in Peristeri, speaking at the post-match press conference:
Was this match and the win also a rehearsal for the upcoming Cup match against PAOK?
Perhaps the people at PAOK might say the same – that their own win was a rehearsal for our match. These are completely different matches and a different competition altogether, and I believe things will be very balanced in that game.
Was this Olympiacos’ most complete away performance? Also, what do you take from this match and what didn’t you like?
I truly believe it was a very good match for us. Especially in the first half, we played with good intensity and scored through Martins, who was… unstoppable and contributed a great deal to the game. In the second half we lowered our tempo slightly, but we didn’t allow the opponent to threaten us, which is very important. I think that after the second goal we continued to play calmly and with control.
Which team will you be supporting in the Nigeria–Morocco match?
May the best team win. In four days, either El Kaabi or Bruno will be back, and we’ll see which one it will be. We can’t wish both of them good luck and expect that to work, because only one of the two will advance to the next round – so let the best team win.
