Statements of our team’s players

After the end of the Champions League MD1 against Marseille, our team’s players made the following statements:

Yeste: “Marseille was not better than us. They just took advantage of the opportunities thrown their way, unlike us. Now, Sunday’s match is ahead and we must win”.

Abdoun: “The team wasn’t ready. We weren’t that bad and I believe the result does not do us justice. I spoke with Marseille’s players, who told me that tonight they won a great team. Our focus is now on the championship”.

Fuster: “I believe that a draw would have been a fairer result. We also had opportunities to score. Unfortunately we did not take advantage of them. The match was complicated. It was difficult, as we had to face a good team. Nevertheless, things are now more complicated for us. At this point we must concentrate on the upcoming championship game”.

Djebbour: “They scored at a decisive point and “killed” our ambitions. It was very hard to react after that, as we had no more powers left, due to lack of official games. It was very difficult to do anything after the goal and missed out on all opportunities we created”.

Mellberg: “We lost to a team far readier than ours, with a solid defensive structure. We created opportunities but scored no goals. This is a very difficult group and everyone can get points off one another. We suffered many injuries, like me who was out injured as well. When we reach 100% we will show our real potential. We can still qualify, anything is possible”.

Constanzo: “Not having played a single official match has definitely affected us; however we cannot use this as an excuse. We could not change it. There were things not done right. For our first match in the Champions League we behaved alright, however, it was not coupled with a good result. The team stood well but unfortunately we lost. We can qualify if we continue to give all we’ve got and claim points. It was a great atmosphere and all football players dream of playing in such stadiums. We thank our supporters”.

Torosidis: “There are no excuses. We did our best. We had a few good moments. We deserved a draw. We weren’t as ready as we should have been. After the 0-1, we had some good chances, but couldn’t score”.

Makoun: “We did not play as we were supposed to and we did not do what we had to. Marseille paced had better pace and had played more games than we did. It is not pleasant to lose at home. A draw would have been good for us. Now we must seek for an away victory”.
