Olympiacos secured a 2-0 away victory over Marko in the Greek Cup, and Imanol Alguacil stressed during the press conference that he was satisfied with his team’s performance.
Another victory without conceding a goal. What do you take away from this match?
I am very pleased with my players’ performance, and I am happy for our supporters, who were once again by our side despite the fact that we were playing away from home. But above all, I am happy because, although we were facing a second-division team, we showed them the respect they deserved. We were serious and consistent, and we managed to secure our eighth consecutive victory without conceding a goal. However, I will say once again that all of this now belongs to the past, and we are looking ahead to what comes next.
Could you say a few words about the young players who featured, with Toufakis making his first appearance and Filis providing an assist?
I am satisfied with their performances, but I would not like to single out individual players, particularly the youngsters from our Academy who were given playing time. They did a good job, but they still have a lot of work ahead of them to continue improving and achieve the goal we all share, which is to reach the level of the first team. I hope they continue working hard, and I believe that this season their main role is to help the second team. That is where they need to play a leading role and show that they can contribute to the team, so that one day they can step up to the first team. That is the objective of the entire Academy. I hope they continue working and improving because, although they made a contribution today, they still have a long way to go before becoming members of the first team.
