On Thursday afternoon, at 19:00, our footballers returned to the Olympiacos training centre in Rendis for their second practice session of their summer preparation’s first stage.
The routine included light jogging and stretching. The warming up continued with the “Reds” divided into two groups, exercising their pressing and ball-possession.
One group played a short training match with Yianniotis and Daskalakis under the goalposts, while the players worked in rotation of the ball and the second one, with Megyeri and Carroll, worked quite a lot on fast passing and finishing the opportunities, with crosses from both sides and parallel passing.
Goalkeepers, Roy Carol, Iosif Daskalakis, Balazs Megyeri and Andreas Gianniotis had separate training under the supervision of Vassilis Alexoudis and Carlos Pires.
During the training Kevin Mirallas was injured. The Belgian striker sustained, according to first estimates of the medical staff, a mild injury to his left knee. His return to action is expected in two weeks. The player will immediately begin treatment at the premises of Rendis.
Avraam Papadopoulos went on with his treatment, in order to return to action as soon as possible. Yiannis Zaradoukas had a personal routine during most of the training.
On Friday, the team will fly to Austria for the first stage of its summer preparation without international players Torosidis, Maniatis, Cholevas, Fetfatzidis and Mitroglou, who will not be travelling along. Due to their injuries, Kevin Mirallas and Avraam Papadopoulos are also forced to remain in Athens. The rest of the squad’s players are all in the delegation.
