FC Alania Vladikavkaz – Olympiacos FC 0-1

Olympiacos FC concluded their pre-season preparation in Austria with a victorious friendly against the Russian team.

On their last evening in Austria, prior to their return home, Olympiacos FC played a friendly match against Alania Vladikavkaz whom they beat by 1-0, at the Schwaz stadium. Rafik Djebbour was the one to score the winner; a really beautiful goal.

Olympiacos came on with a 4-2-3-1 formation; Carroll guarding the goalpost, Papazoglou on the right side of the defense and Potouridis on the left, Manolas and Siovas in the centre with Modesto and Fejsa playing as midfielders, Abdoun on the left wing and Vlachodimos on the right, Diogo behind the striker and Djebbour alone at the top.

The reds tried to impose their pace from the beginning. They were more offensive, although they had the wind blowing against them. Leonardo Jardim was constantly giving directions, asking his players to put into practice everything he has been working with them in training.

The superiority of Olympiacos paid off on 13 minutes when Papazoglou moved to the right and made a cross to Djebbour who took a direct shot on the move, beating Khomich and scoring the opener.

In the second half, coach Jardmin substituted many of his players. Now the team had Dielna on the left side, Modesto as a sole defensive midfielder in front of who Tatos and Chumbinho were positioned. Abdoun remained on the left side of the offensive line and Djebbour moved to the right (basically as a free striker) with Marco Pantelic now at the top.

Several changes were also made during the second half, when Olympiacos had several realistic goalscoring opportunities but the visiting team did not manage to score.

Tomorrow morning, the team’s delegation will fly back to Athens, shortly after 11.00 (local time).
