Olympiacos formation was 4-2-3-1: Roberto at the goal, with Salino, Avraam, Manolas and Bong in defense. Samaris and N’Dinga holded the midfield, whereas Machado (right) and Fuster (left) took on the wings, who would regularly cut infield and offer support at the center midfield. That was the area of Ariel Ibagaza, set just behind our side’s pure striker, Nelson Valdez.
The Legend was quick to net the opener! In 33’, Perez took the ball from the left, controlling it in a splendid way and drawing in two defenders/ after dribbling on them, laid the ball in with his right foot to incoming Samaris. The Greek midfielder fired a fantastic right-footed shot that landed deep past Glikos; the scorer and his teammates rushed to celebrate the goal and dedicate it to Michael Olaitan!
However, in 36’, well-posted Athanasiadis leveled it with a shot from inside the box, whereas in 84’ PAOK managed to score its second, when despite Bong’s effort to clear the ball, it met Tzavellas whose successful right-footed shot registered the final 2-1.
