“Certainly it will be tough; the result of the first leg will give us a good advantage, especially given the support of our fans, the 12th player as they are called. If we get a good result and concede no goals , then a huge step will have been taken before going to the Old Trafford. “
What would you recommend a player to think when playing against Man. United. What would be your advice to the squad about this match?
“Personally,I don’t think that some advice must be given, because the players know what this is about. Playing against the world’s top sides in Champions League last 16 is very important for the players. They all have to enjoy the match and remain focused in both fixtures , because that is one of the greatest matches a player may experience in his career. “
Michael Olaitan:
This is your first year performing in the UEFA Champions League and you have already featured twice against Anderlecht in the group stage. Are you ready for this major challenge against Man. United? Have thought what to do in order to score against the English outfit?
“I have capped already twice in the Champions League, but I wasn’t alone in that, the whole team did great . The whole side has to understand that being in the last 16 is not easy. Certainly, all players want to play such a match. If given the opportunity, I feel ready for that. For me, it doesn’t matter who will score; if the side delivers, no-one cares who is the scorer. Certainly, if I make it and score goals, I will appreciate it a lot!”
You have experienced the blazing atmosphere created by the Olympiacos fans in all matches, let alone the ones for UEFA Champions League . How much helpfull will they be in the first keg in G. Karaiskakis stadium?
“Playing against the worlds top clubs for Champions League round of 16. Indeed, judging by my experience until now, definitely our supporters will greatly help us; they know how to create a fantastic atmosphere.. It feels as if you have an additional player on the pitch, 12 against 11. They always do a fine job and I hope they will do the same.”
