Liverpool and Olympiacos will meet this summer to participate in the 2014 International Champions Cup, in Chicago (Soldier Field) on July 27 (5:00pm)!
The two clubs will participate in one of the most well-known football tournaments in the world and plan to offer an impressive spectacle to the spectators who will fill the stands of Soldier Field stadium.
It is well known that the two clubs, as well as their fans, have a special relationship since besides sharing the same colours, they also share one more thing. We are of course referring to the connection of the Hillsborough tragedy with the Gate 7 tragedy.
In a telling event, Liverpool invited last summer Olympiacos to play in Anfield in the testimonial for the club’s captain, Steven Gerrard, and all proceeds from the match went to the Steven Gerrard Foundation for disadvantaged children. The President of FC Olympiacos Mr Vangelis Marinakis was also present and honoured Steven Gerrard by donating an additional £100,000 to the foundation, whereas Liverpool’s captain in his turn delivered a wreath to the people of Olympiacos in order to return it to Piraeus and lay it in the Gate 7 memorial.
Therefore, on the occasion of the participation of Liverpool and Olympiacos in the 2014 International Champions Cup, the two clubs jointly prepared the following impressive promo trailer in order to invite the fans to attend this important match between two great clubs!
We expect you all on July 27 (at 5:00pm) at Chicago’s Soldier Field to celebrate football with us!
