As if in an American film, the coach carrying the Olympiacos squad rolls in the streets of New Jersey; from the hotel to the training ground and back. Hard work started from Tuesday already ahead the great ICC 2014-opening match against Milan in Toronto on Thursday!
So, Olympiacos find themselves “in the land of the free” –as the Americans call it- ready for a grand summertime tour, raising thus its prestige even more and establishing the club in the European and world football elite!
Our first training on US soil took place on Tuesday at the Pingry school facilities in New Jersey! Avraam Papadopoulos was the only one missing as a result of a mild gastritis and abstained from training. He is due to return to the squad and get back in proper action as soon as possible.
The rest of the “red-and-white” players performed ball drills, working hard on their skills, ball control and possession. They also worked on ball circulation and putting pressure on the opponent. Weather conditions were summery, despite disturbingly high humidity levels on Tuesday morning.
Many of the school pupils (who attend this school to learn and play football) watched the Legend’s training sessions and gave them a loud applause when told that that was the Greek champion!
The team’s schedule also provides for an afternoon training session on Tuesday (19:00 local time), whereas the Olympiacos squad will leave, Wednesday morning, for Ontario, Canada!
