The Legend’s “engine” of victories has not stopped since it got running. Olympiacos, since the match against Malmo on December 9th of last year, has recorded 12 consecutive wins in all competitions and remains a contender in the League, the Greek Cup, and the Europa League.
Olympiacos is currently in first place in the Greek Super League, five points clear of second place, are still in European competition after making the “Round of 32” in the Europa League, while currently in the “quarter-finals” of the Greek Cup.
The “red-and-whites” prevailed on December 9th, 2014 by winning Swedish champions Malmo (4-2) in the last group stage match in the Champions League, and despite not qualifying to the next round, have managed to continue in another European tournament, the Europa League, facing FC Dnipro in the upcoming round. Olympiacos are currently the only Greek team to still play in Europe after the New Year!
Since then, the team has recorded 11 victories, bringing the team back where it belongs: top of the table!
After Malmo, the Legend secured away wins against Levadiakos (2-1) and Kalloni (5-0), as well as home wins against Panionios (2-0) and Platanias (2-1). After came the cup game against Fortiras, with the team securing a (2-0) win to go on to the “Round of 16” and a match-up with Tyrnavos, an aggregate score of 11-0 (3-0 away, 8-0 home) meant the team was through to the “quarter-finals” of the cup!
The winning streak continued with wins on the road: Xanthi (3-1), OFI (3-0), and Veria (2-0), while winning Panaitolikos (2-0) at Karaiskakis! Niki Volos’s suspension from the league meant the game was forfeit and the three points were given to Olympiacos.
Not only has there been consecutive wins, the team also managed to score 23 goals and conceded only one in the last seven games in all competitions!
