In a fixture in which Olympiacos visited the “Apostolos Nikolaidis” stadium in order to clinch the Superleague title, a jungle-like scenery unfolded fully and no leeway was left for something more. Our side failed to take something positive out of the match and suffered both a 2-1 defeat and a volley of flares!
The first half ended with both sides keeping their clean sheet and Olympiacos letting some easy 45 minutes to lapse.
Before the second half, while both teams were making their entrance on the pitch, Panathinaikos fans aimed at Olympiacos players and staff and fired away a flare that hit Pajtim Kasami’s arm!
Luck outrageously turned its back to our team since right after the Legend’s top goal-scoring chance, the home team took the lead following Masuaku’s own goal. A momentary mistake in our defense allowed Panathinaikos to also score their second.
As for Chori’s goal in injury time, our players couldn’t even celebrate it, since it led to another round of… flares! The match ended; a match that should have never even started!
