The 15th ECA General Assembly held in Geneva on 8 September decided to take a very important initiative! It was decided that each participant of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League Group Stage will donate 1 Euro for each ticket sold during their first European home match, to refugees!
The specific match days concerned take place on 15-17 September (1st match day) and on 29 September-1 October (2nd match day). Olympiacos, who constantly supports our fellow people in need, will of course participate in this specific great initiative, based on an initial idea launched by Porto FC and enthusiastically supported by Bayern Munich’s chief executive, Mr Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
The clubs will of course be able to donate more money should they wish to, whereas the clubs not participating in European competitions may also do the same thing during a local championship match. This is a tremendous initiative on a particularly important issue preoccupying all Europe, as well as our country!
Olympiacos, as always, is among the first clubs to embrace, support and dynamically promote such initiatives.
