Carlos Carvalhal: “Let this be a lesson to us”

The statement of the coach of Olympiacos following the match against Lamia.

The coach of Olympiacos, Carlos Carvalhal, at the press conference of the away league match against Lamia, initially stated:

“Congratulations on Lamia’s victory. I would like to say that this game will be a lesson to us so that we do not present the same image again in the future. We wore the Olympiacos shirt, but we did not play like the players of Olympiacos, the shirts do not play alone. We did not try as much as we should have and this should be a lesson to us because anyone who wants to be a champion cannot make such appearances in games. This should not be repeated until the end of the year in terms of our behaviour”.

Asked if he considers that there is a problem of opportunity creation in Olympiacos because they did not score for a second consecutive game, the Portuguese technician replied: “I do not agree with this because we created many opportunities with Atromitos but we did not score. This is different because we were creative offensively. Unlike the game against Lamia where we created few opportunities, but we did not like the offensive operation; in general we did not like anything about our game. We did not score with Lamia because we did not create opportunities, while against Atromitos, we were creative”.
