In 2015, at the age of 16, he joined the academy of Braga, making his debut with the first team in January 2020. He completed the 2019–2020 season with 19 appearances in the Championship and the Europa League. In 2020–2021 he participated in 21 games, five of which in the Europa League, while in 2021–2022 he played in 17 games in the Primeira Liga and the Europa League.

Following 57 appearances with Braga, in the summer of 2022, Porto proceeded with his purchase, in a record transfer. In the 2022–2023 season he made 18 appearances (five of which in the Champions League), while this year he counts 15 participations in all competitions.

Carmo has worn the Portuguese national jersey at U19 and U20 levels and was a member of the men’s team’s pre-selection for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
