Holding fast to the traditions of our country, Olympiacos once again celebrated the traditional Koulouma of Clean Monday alongside the citizens of Piraeus. In particular, Olympiacos FC and its President, Mr. Evangelos Marinakis, supported the Municipality of Piraeus’ event this year as well, offering over 2,500 meals with Lenten delicacies to the public.

From the early hours of Clean Monday, Olympiacos representatives were present at the beach of Freattyda, where the Municipality of Piraeus had organized the celebration of Lent. Olympiacos provided the traditional Lenten fare for everyone who took part in this festive day. Thousands of meals were enjoyed by Piraeus residents, while Olympiacos also distributed kites to young and older fans of the club, adorned with the emblem commemorating the club’s 100th anniversary. The sky over Piraeus filled with red-and-white kites, as people enjoyed traditional music, accompanied by the Wind Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Piraeus.

The Mayor of Piraeus and Vice President of Olympiacos FC, Mr. Yiannis Moralis, stated:
“Happy Lent to everyone, here in Freattyda, as is our tradition every year. It’s a beautiful day for us, the weather held up, there’s a bit of wind. We have Yiannis Kapsalis, one of the top performers in his genre, and of course Olympiacos, which always supports our event by offering over 2,500 Lenten meals to the people. We have the kites featuring Olympiacos’ 100th anniversary, we have dancing, kite flying, and everything that makes up a lovely Clean Monday. Best wishes and many happy returns to all”.

On his part, the Director of the Commercial Division and Corporate Communications, Mr. Leonidas Papavasilakis, commented on the celebration at Freattyda beach:
“We are here today, as we are every year, at a wonderful celebration organized by the Municipality of Piraeus, with the continued support and generosity of Olympiacos FC and its president, Mr. Evangelos Marinakis, for this exceptional event marking the beginning of Lent. We wish all Piraeus citizens a happy and blessed Lent”.
