Through UEFA and the UEFA Youth League competition, Olympiacos’ Youth Team donated the amount of €1,000 to support the “Liberty Guide & Assistance Dogs” organization. The cheque was presented during a meeting held at Olympiacos’ training center in Rentis, attended by the “red-and-white” U19 squad, the team’s coaching staff, and two-time 100-metre Paralympic gold medalist, Nasos Gavelas.
During the meeting in Rentis, the organization’s Legal Advisor, Vangelis Avgoulas, thanked Olympiacos for its contribution and also referred to a previous donation made through the UEFA Youth League and Olympiacos U19, highlighting the club’s ongoing support of the work of Liberty Guide & Assistance Dogs — a guide dog training school for people with visual impairments.
“Our relationship with Olympiacos and the club’s president, Mr. Marinakis, dates back to 2019,” he noted.
At the same time, dog trainer Olympia Samiou spoke to the young players about the guide dog training process and answered questions from members of the Youth Team.
Konstantinos Plis spoke on behalf of the players, stating: “We are all happy to have met you, and everything we learned was truly valuable. It was an honor to meet the guide dogs and all of you. We wish you all the best — it was a very interesting meeting”.
From his side, Paralympian Nasos Gavelas added: “The entire team was positive from the very first moment about donating this amount to the organization and supporting the new guide dogs. I wish you continued success in the future. I follow your progress and you are all remarkable. I hope to see you play for the first team, and I will come to watch you whenever I can”.
