The team of Olympiacos has improved, they put pressure on the opponent within the first 20 minutes – do you know what needs to be improved?
I agree with you – I feel satisfied, we put a lot of pressure on the opponents during the first 20 minutes and our defence was well-organised. As the match evolved we lost sense of the game and allowed the opponents to threaten us with a goal. During the second half, our defence was improved and we turned our opportunities into goals. Nonetheless, in the last few minutes the players were tired – that’s why maintaining the same level of performance was a challenge.
Α victorious premiere – is this the best recipe in view of the game against Apollon Limassol?
That’s right. The best way to start preparing is for victory. We came away with the win at home – and we will follow the same recipe for Thursday’s match. The fans kept us going and, when we were tired, they gave us the strength to keep on. We will be preparing for the upcoming match with a victory and in high spirits.
Did some of the players respond positively? Also, was the substitution of Manolas related to readiness?
It is important to have a large roster in order to participate in two competitions, while changing your game. Manolas himself requested that he be substituted because he felt muscular discomfort. I want my team to play competitively and be strong at every game, and sometimes it’s a challenge to help the players’ return because you always need to use your most ready football players.
