On the match against Dnipro:
“Firstly, I seek no excuse for this result. I demand a lot from myself and the team. My side failed to fulfil what he have planned to do. We wanted our attacks to have more of an edge; we were a squad lucking confidence. It wasn;t Dnipro that led us to lose our confidence. However, we know we can be better and this is why there is no room for excuses. We don’t like changes, because it is a sign that things go wrong. When one sees that something goes wrong, one has to do something and change the situation. We made our substitutions because we were poor in building up our game. We sent Milivojevic in to add composue in our game, because until that moment we used to make mistakes. With Fortounis and Durmaz, we wanted to improve ball circulation. Although we did so, there were two consecutive wrong calls by the referee; a penalty that was not called for and a goal that was disallowed and we don’t know why. We have seen before mistakes by referees in the UEFA Champions League to our detriment. Although I don’t like commenting on the referees, those calls were against us”.
What are the odds for Olympiacos to bring the tie around? How will you prepare your side for Sunday’s match?
“The only way to do that is to play better than tonight; more offensively. We are here tonight to talk only about the UEFA Europa League and as of tomorrow we will deal with Sunday’s match. Our job is to overcome difficult moments and move on”.
On tonight’s performance by Olympiacos”
“What bothered me the most was that I saw my side not being itself and dominating the match. I don’t like it when my side lacks courage and fails to demonstrate its quality. I want my team to show this quality and dominate the match. That’s what bothers me, as well as that goal the referee denied us”.
Did Dnipro do something that took you by surprise?
“What surprised us was our own performance, not Dnipro’s. Our opponent made their typical performance; it was us who failed to do what we wanted”.
